This publication helped surgeons think about one of the most difficult surgeries performed – augmentation mastopexy.
In this article, Dr. Adams describes the four step process that optimizes patient outcomes in breast augmentation. The essential components include:
1. comprehensive patient education that enhances informed consent
2.tissue-based preoperative planning
3.refined surgical technique and rapid recovery
4. defined postoperative management plan.
Patients were followed from 2001-2006 in an FDA approved clinical trial. Each patient underwent the four step process. This resulted in a 3.7 reoperation rate for the entire trial.
